What do we do?
What do we do?
The Crawley Young Persons Council is a Youth council which consitsts of 36 seats from all areas of life in Crawley, our 'Job' is to put across the word of youth for Crawley.
The establishment of a Youth Council can greatly benefit the local community as a whole. You can have your say on what issues you think are important to young people.
Crawley CYPC aims to:
- Give a voice to young people at a local level
- Represent the needs and interests of young people
- Talk directly with the decision makers
- Organise events, provide information and act as a contact point for young people
Last year, the YPC helped to organise many events including the Outset Volunteer Awards night at Liquid Envy, sponsored the Community Award for the Crawley Youth Awards, had an awayday at Blacklands Farm, the Band Stage at the Event in Southgate Playing Fields and supported Crawley Battle of the Bands. Members also launched their new DVD and redesigned the website - www.cypc.co.uk.
Portfolio Groups
There are three portfolio groups which look into specific issues affecting young people in Crawley. The current members of the Young Persons Council decided to focus on Transport, Community Safety and Youth Facilities.
The council also forms other subgroups for special projects. These groups normally involve organising events and will not fit into the normal three groups. An example is the website and online development. This is done by a separate subgroup.
CYPC is supported by: CBC Community Development, WSCC Youth Service and Sussex Police
